仕事内容Job description [Job Title]
[Hitachi, Ltd.] Associate Class in the Cross-Border M&A Specialist Team, Human Resources Division

[Department Name]
Human Capital Management Headquarters, Global Strategic Alliance Department

[About the Department (Overview and Mission)]
This is an organization within the Human Resources Department (hereinafter, HR Department) that specializes in cross-border M&A. To strengthen the Hitachi Group's HR Division's capabilities for cross-border M&A, the department promotes and supports actual M&A project participation (from due diligence through PMI) and carries out knowledge-sharing activities (planning and holding seminars, documenting knowledge by converting it into explicit knowledge, etc.). In this way, it functions as a knowledge hub for HR in cross-border M&A.

[Businesses, Services, and Products Involved]
The department provides collaboration and support in this area (HR in cross-border M&A) to all Hitachi Group business entities.

[Background of Recruitment]
Demand for M&A support, which is used as one of various means for executing the Hitachi Group's management plan "Inspire 2027," promoted since last fiscal year, has increased rapidly. The HR Department will also add staff to strengthen its structure.

[Job Overview]
Cross-border M&A is said to have a success rate of about 30% and is considered highly difficult. Many of the factors behind this relate to "people," the core of business execution. The HR Department, which handles "people," has many roles to fulfill, including participating from an early stage, clarifying risks with PMI promotion after acquisition in mind, and participating in contract negotiations to address those risks. On the other hand, opportunities to gain actual experience are limited, making it difficult to acquire empirical know-how and knowledge. Although the group has many track records, further proactive efforts are needed to utilize them. This department was established as the execution team for this purpose. When M&A is planned within the group, it participates and provides support. In normal times, it promotes knowledge hub activities that share the collected knowledge broadly with the group's HR departments through seminars, knowledge compilations, and similar formats.

This position is a first step toward becoming an M&A specialist in the HR field. It is designed to help you accumulate substantial experience and step up while also learning broad HR knowledge.

[Job Details]
・Promotion and support through project participation: Participate as a project member, work with the business unit HRBP to organize matters to be addressed, collaborate and coordinate with related departments, and engage in overall project promotion and support activities based on instructions from supervisors.
・Accumulation and explicit knowledge conversion of HR-related knowledge in cross-border M&A: Convert knowledge gained through experience into explicit knowledge, collect it, and promote its use within the HR Department.
In particular, take the lead in creating and revising playbooks and similar materials.
・Planning and operation of M&A seminars: Plan and run various seminars that communicate an overview of M&A and the accumulated knowledge.

[Appeal, Rewards, and Career Path of the Position]
・M&A is said to be a "microcosm of management." While closely observing the management strategies, decisions, and execution of the business units and group companies that carry it out, you will realize your role and contribution as HR. The responsibility is heavy, but it is a rewarding job. It is also an opportunity to learn about the global businesses Hitachi promotes, and a chance to broadly build management participation awareness and knowledge.
・While HR professionals commonly build experience by function, such as BP (Business Partner), CoE (Center of Expertise), and operations, this role offers the opportunity to carry out cross-functional activities from a perspective that includes a global element. It is a job where you can gain very valuable experience for those aiming to become leaders of the HR Department in the future and for those who wish to be active in the global HR field. Of course, it is ideal for those who want to build M&A experience and knowledge across various formats and scales and pursue a career as an HR M&A specialist.

[Work Environment]
① You will work at the Global Strategic Alliance Department of the Human Capital Management Headquarters at Hitachi, Ltd.'s head office. As a global headquarters function, you will support projects by collaborating with HR-BPs from each division and developing high levels of expertise. The department is a small team of three people: the department head, the deputy department manager, and this position. However, the team is flexibly organized, with members from regional headquarters HR operating globally joining as needed. In projects, the team is mainly composed of HR members from business units and group companies, and this department collaborates and supports them.
② This position is eligible for discretionary work arrangements. Hybrid work combining remote work and office attendance is also possible. Overseas business trips may occur depending on projects, but these will be arranged through consultation with consideration for work-life balance.
